Give Spotlight // The Loveland Foundation

Putting the spotlight on PEOPLE, GROUPS, ORGANIZATIONS AND CHARITIES THAT ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD

THE LOVELAND FOUNDATION

I found out about The Loveland Foundation last year and was immediately drawn to their cause of making therapy accessible for a community where it’s often anything but accessible. As an advocate for mental health care, I know just how much getting the right help can make a difference, and the thought of anyone struggling, unable to get that same help, that can truly make all the difference when it comes to healing from difficulties and traumas, just isn’t ok. Which is why I wanted to introduce you to this foundation, one that I’ve personally advocated for and donated to, as this month’s Give Spotlight. Read on to find out more and how you can get involved.

WHO THEY ARE

Loveland Foundation is an organization that is working to remove the stigma surrounding mental health in communities of color by bringing the opportunity of healing to these communities, with a particular focus on Black women and girls.

WHAT THEY DO

They make therapy accessible for a group (Black women and girls) that it’s not normally accessible for. Recipients of the fund are connected to a relevant mental health professional via the Loveland’s network of professionals around the country. They also work to connect these women and girls with therapists that they will be able to continue to afford once their funded 4-12 sessions are over.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

You can advocate for the cause by promoting and fundraising on your social media accounts, corporate matching, pooling funds together with a group of friends to form a giving circle (just $20 from each of 6 friends is enough to cover 1 therapy session) and donate to the therapy fund.
