HAPPY HOUR NO. 174
A MID-WEEK PICK-ME-UP OF FAVORITE PHOTOS, LINKS AND THINGS
// olive branches
2
Our neighbor had their olive tree trimmed so you know I wasted zero time in swooping in to pick up some of the trimmings, which are now filling several vases around the house! Yay!
// fennel salad
4
On Sunday night I used up the rest of a fennel bulb to make a quick salad- sliced fennel, orange, dill, red pepper flakes, sea salt and a drizzle of EVOO. So light and yummy, and would be perfect alongside chicken or fish!
// biscotti
6
I recently had a craving for biscotti so I made a batch of orange, olive oil and hazelnut ones, drizzled with melted dark chocolate. While they were delicious and certainly hit the spot, the recipe still needs some work before it can make a full appearance on the site. What treats have you been baking during the lockdown?
// farm eggs
1
Add farm fresh eggs to my growing list of things I used to take for granted but no longer do. These beauties are part of a CSA box that we’ve been picking up at a local shop. If you’re in LA and looking for a spot to get fresh produce, eggs, cheese, bread, etc. I highly recommend this place.
// fresh flowers
3
Fresh flowers are usually a given around our home, but these days, similarly to the farm fresh eggs, they feel like a special treat that I use to take for granted but certainly no longer do. FYI, these runanculus are from Trader Joe’s, so if you live by one, be sure to grab yourself some blooms on your next grocery store run! Best $5 you’ll spend, guaranteed!
// saucy sundays
5
We finally had a Saucy Sunday this past weekend after not having one for a few weeks thanks to the craziness that has been dealing with the pandemic. Nothing like a bowl of homemade pasta, meatballs, sauce, parm and ricotta to make you temporarily forget all about the worries of the world!
